You’ve probably never heard of Eclectic, Alabama, and if you’re reading this there is a good chance you’ve yet to discover the 21-year-old upcoming artist who grew up there.
The obvious comparison is Bright Eyes, but Roger Eason’s brand of indie-folk has influences that range from Simon and Garfunkel to Nickel Creek. Eason recently broke into the scene performing at Birmingham’s most successful music venues including one of Paste magazine's 40 best music venues WorkPlay Theatre. His first nationwide tour will occur this fall in support of his debut release --“Family Heirlooms” EP.
The singer has a humbleness that comes through in his live show, and has proved to be magnet for crowd adoration. Describing his performance, one fan said, “You feel like he’s come into your living room to play a show just for you.”
Eason said he grew up in a place where the small-town community around him heavily influenced his thoughts and opinions. He said, “The EP is my movement to my own individual thinking; Family Heirlooms is me doing what I really want to do. I wanted something that was plain, something that was natural, just to spit out it all out, put in on paper and record it, and that’s what I did.”
